Narrative shoot risk assessment

Our shoot will take place on Tuesday 6th July 2021. With this, we were able to identify key risks that we have to be cautious of when shooting. We have agreed, as a group, the necessary precautions we need to take when travelling too and from the filming location. As a result of carrying out this task, it helps us prepare for the day, how we will get there, travel and how to approach the concept of filming our performance section to complete our music video.

Narrative production meeting agenda

As a group we completed our production meeting agenda in order to film and create a successful narrative shoot. with this task we can look back on what we need for the shoot and who’s responsible for all of it. This was also made so everyone new the times and dates. We also had to make sure our star image was successfully portrayed with elements of Mes En Scene.

Rough 40 second performance

In this task we were challenged to create a 45 second video with just the performance footage we gathered last week.

To get the performance shots we went to the prison lanes. We arrived at the prison lanes at 9am and walked down the lane towards the abandoned shack half way down covered in graffiti. We got our money shots in and around the building, changing the angle and distance between the camera and the performer.

What Went Well – We filmed the entire first sections of the song multiple times in many different locations. I believe our lip syncing was very good and our variation of shot was good. I think the shack was a very good location for the shoot.

Improvements – In the location there was only this building not much else. We could’ve got our performer to do more expressions and get more funky shots. We didn’t get many shots of the seconds half of the song because our performer struggled with the words, an improvement would be for him to learn them before.

this helps represent our star as calm, easy to approach and maybe even a little sad. In our Narrative film session I think we need to get a couple more shots of Max performing the second half of the song just so we have more of a selection.

Focus forward – I believe for our music we need to make sure our star image is represented properly. for our narrative shoot we need to use a better variation of shots, angles and camera techniques to improve our video.

Production Meeting agenda

The production meeting agenda was create to make our shoot more successful. With this we can look back and refer and see what we need to bring to the shoot and whos responsible for it all.  This also helps us ensure that our star image is represented accurately throughout the performance using a repertoire of elements and Mise En Scene.

Music video Risk assessment

Below we have wrote all the possible problems and how we would resolve them.

The Risk assessment allows our group to prepare for anything and allow everything to run smoothly because we’ve planed. This allows us to try to prevent anything from going wrong. We agreed as a group the necessary operations that need to happen.

Visual Shot list

In this task we had to create a visual shot list in padlet as a group. The visual shot list is a collage of gifs and screenshots from music video of the same genre as our song ‘otherside’ which is rock.  These shots also portray the narrative and the star image along with the Mes En Scene giving off that vibe the performer wants. The visual shot list allows us to prepare for our music video and see what shots are usually used so we are aware before the time of our shoot.

This task will help us when we come to shoot the entire music video because we will know the shots which are normally used and what is really effective. He won’t be standing around thinking we’ll know exactly what to do

Detailed music video analysis

Down below I have analysed the music video for the song ‘Chained to the rhythm’ from the artist Katy Perry. During the music video you can see Katy amplifying problems in todays society. By analysing the video I also started to understand the importance of illustrating a story and being able to tell it.

Down below is a closer analysis of the music video.
