- In order to create a red filter layer to the video you firstly go into Effects Controls and locate the Lumetri Colour setting, after doing this you must adjust the RGB curves to however you wish, for us we decided to choose a red filter as it portrays the character as dangerous and unpredictable. To adjust the hue saturation curves you just need to click on the white circle setting and adjust to preference, this way you can create a hue filter in whatever colour you want. On the other hand, you can use the grid and move the red line in order to adjust the saturation and within our video we upped the saturation three times in order to intensify the colour.
- Above you can see that for all of the memory flashbacks we decided to use a specific filter to create a retro vibe to the video, to do this we used the filter SL Gold Tobacco (Canon 7D) on all these memory shots. By doing this we were able to determine to the audience that our main female character was having memory flashbacks, it has a sepia, orange toned filter which suggests looking back in time.
- To get this effect you go into Presets then Lumetri Presets and I personally went into Canon 7D and chose SL Gold Tobacco but there are lots of options depending on what atmosphere you want to create
TARGETS TO IMPROVE FOR DRAFT 4:
- edit slightly more to the beat
- ensure all performance is correctly lip synced
- make sure in the shower scene that the black cuts are all the same length and that we can’t see the models top (crop the video) or people’s reflections in the shower window
- hold any shots that convey the murder for a few more seconds in order to reinforce the storyline
- maybe include less of the goggles as they appear a lot but don’t have a lot of relevance
- Above, we have created a new storyboard for any additional shots we needed , it’s crucial to plan our narrative shoot to ensure it runs smoothly. By doing this it will help give us a clear break down of what the different shots we need to get, meaning that we will not wonder into our narrative shot blindly and this should ensure we gather enough footage and will not struggle when it comes to editing.
When creating this storyboard we made sure we paid attention to all the little details we are going to have. For example the first shot is for our narrative is going to be an establishing shot of the mirror, on the mirror we will have an invitation attached to a mirror, even though it is not essential to the narrative it helps give some context.
Having done this task it gave us a good idea of different aspects that we need to consider such as location, makeup, clothing, angles and so on; it has set a clear outline of how we want the shoot to go. Now we have a clear plan to follow and prevent any unnecessary time procrastinating on what to do next.
It’s extremely important to have a variety of different shots in order to keep the audience engaged and involved with the video, if it was all filmed in medium long shots this would become very boring and disinterest the audience very quickly. Close ups allow the emotions of the shots to be prevalent and therefore allows the audience to create a connection with the paradox of the star and these intense close up shots could potentially break the fourth wall. Whereas long shots establish the scene and give the audience a sense of context.

- the start could be edited in slow motion but the intimacy of the shot
- add more close up shots in order to portray the closer relationship
- remove prism filter as looks false
- remove blue bar across 3rd shot as is a mistake
- the close up goggle shot works well
- its unclear what in in the back of the car, a link will have to be made, potentially a shot of her crying afterwards so its obvious the boy has been killed
- fill the last minute with shower shots and a fast paced edit to convey the chaos in her mind
- more performance shots needed, stair ones are good not so much the ones on the sofa
- confusion between if shots are meant to be performance or narrative – clarity needed
WHAT WENT WELL:
- our models were very co operative and even thought of some ideas themselves and contributed to the shoot
- the weather was ideal for the shoot and the location worked well
- we used our time wisely and our production meeting agenda helped us organise our shoot
- synced up well
EVEN BETTER IF:
- we filmed even more and repeated shots several times
- we had a better variety of shots, to improve on this we are going to be conducting more shoots, this will include a white studio room shoot
- we clarified who our male model, Jordan, is within the narrative as it isn’t very clear

As producers we have to encode messages and meanings that our target audience can decode, but first, in order to do that we must know and understand our target audience. The best way to do this is by creating a dating profile so we can get into the mindset of our target audience and understand their preferred reading using the information sourced from yougov.gg.
This useful information includes what they watch, what music they listen to etc as seen below in these screenshots of yougov below:
What went well:
- I was able to make use of multiple tools that premiere has in order to edit my clips.
- I familiarised myself with colour effects which before I did not know much on how to use.
- I was able to edit my clips to be in sync with my audio.
Even better if:
- I made use of more effects such as transitions and colour effects making my clips look better.
- Use the layers to add more effects allowing me to use multiple clips at once, adjustment layers and filters.
WHAT WENT WELL:
- time management was strong as we had a storyboard to follow which enabled us to designate time to specific shots and went to our different locations at certain times
- model co operation was consistent throughout so this was perfect and very helpful for a cohesive and smooth shoot
- the weather on the shoot day was ideal for outside shots so we were very lucky to have had this weather as this shoot was mainly focused outside and in the summerhouse
EVEN BETTER IF:
- extend variety of shots as we had a lot of the same shots eg medium long shot and by doing a wider variety of shots we would be able to show progression and an array of different shots
- we took repeat shots as when we went back to footage after the shoot, a lot of it wasn’t lined up correctly and was out of focus although a lot of it was fine, but this is a learning curve for us and something we can definitely improve on
- we stuck to the 180 degree rule, this is important to keep continuity within the video, but when we created a match on action set of shots of the couple walking into a field, we didn’t take into account the 180 degree rule so therefore couldn’t use these shots and was ultimately a waste of shoot time
