Music Video rough cut 2

Some of the photos taken during the shoot include :

With this second draft, I believe it is a much better take of the first draft, we had to go and re-film most of our shots that we used, but this effectively made our music video a better quality. We did have a major set back, this was the fact we lost all of our first edit, so we had to start from scratch in terms of editing, so it took us a little longer than we would have liked to edit but we’re still on the right track.

Comparing the first and second draft, the second one really shows the improvement and understanding we are having when it comes to tones and emotions, as well as the framing and positioning of each prop and character. There is a variation of multiple shots, which is what we were aiming for, I feel this really brings together the whole narrative idea behind the video as it is more distinct compared to the first draft. these shots really bring that element of being abstract and naturalistic with the idea of stress and anxiety.

In the next draft of the music video I wish to include a better sense of the narrative, meaning that with the all features included such as shots; framing; composition; and movement; will help us get more of an illusion, as I think that the narrative is not as clearly shown to the audience as it could be, having more school shots, with that element of freedom of sea shots would really help the audience understand the ideas behind this instead of having disjunctive thoughts.

Targets for improvement

  • Include more shots in the school
  • create more interesting shots with editing
  • use a wider range of shots
  • play around with editing and effects in premier pro
  • create a timeline of events within the video
  • add final shot of sea with quote
