Above is a Moodboard that Bea and I have created on Frank Ocean (the artist of our song) and how he represents himself to social media and his target audience. A star image for any artist or performer is very important in their career as this allows them to build a reputation, community and allow them to grow as an artist. Artists will often use branded clothing to remind audiences of who they are. For example Frank Ocean has a popular branding of clothing named ‘Blond’ and this makes audiences automatically think of him when viewing this brand.

In creating this Moodboard and seeing Frank Ocean’s star image it will help me in the performance and narrative of our music video as it will give me an idea of the presence i should be showing to the audience and the type of energy in order for it to fit into the genre of music that we are doing to attract more attention from the audience and to make our music video more likable.

Richard Dyer’s theory talks about how the star of the video should be presented as present but also ordinary yet also absent and unusual. This for the audience creates desire towards the star but also makes the audience feel like they can really connect with the artist as they are being ordinary just in the same way the audience is. The star obviously has to be unusual so that it intrigies the audience and makes them want to listen to more as they would want to know what the artist is planning on releasing next.
