From closely analysing these videos I have learnt that camera, mise-en-scene and editing effect the production of the video and how it is received by the audience. I have learnt that they are very influencial and are encoded with lots of hidden messages which help to portray a narrative. The camera, mes and editing has to be in time to the beat of the music and the lip syncing has to be in time with the recorded lyric. This aids the video to tell a narrative which is embedded within the song, also creating a brand image for the artist.

When creating my music video, I will need to decide whether I want to have a video which is 100% performance, 100% narrative or a mixture of both. I will also have to decide on the type of branding and image that I want to be portrayed by my star through the mes, camera and editing in production. Everything from the location to my star’s make up has to be considered if I want to create the most successful music video possible and portray the correct meaning, narrative, brand and image.
