Favourite Music Video from Former Student

This video is my favourite from a past media student because it has a good balance between narrative and performance and it is interesting and engaging for the audience. The video shows the story of a man in power who is clearly representing a corrupt leader. We can see this narrative by the manic laughs, obsession over money and the shot of the red button being pressed. The other side of the narrative is a relaxed, moral man who is at peace with the world. The narrative is easy to understand as there is a clear storyline, therefore making is engaging and easy to watch.

The video extremely successful as an amplified narrative is used to add another meaning to the song. This makes the video captivating and compelling because it is not a direct translation of the lyrics, allowing new aspects and narratives in the song to be revealed.

The video also includes conventional features of a music video such as: successful lip syncing and convincing mise-en-scene. By having the star lip sync to the track successfully and effectively it makes the video more believable to the audience. Strong and powerful costumes, acting and settings are also extremely important for a video to be successful: aspects in which this video has captured brilliantly, helping the music video to portray the narrative more triumphantly.
