My copy of professional magazine fornt

I used a NME magazine front cover to analyse the different features included in it. I then recreated the same magazine front cover, as best as I could, using Indesign and Photoshop. I found the exercise difficult at first as I haven’t got a lot of experience in editing software, but I managed to find a few tutorials to help me navigate around them.

The first thing I needed to do was find a suitable image of the main cover to use for my own copy. For this task I used Photoshop as it was the best tool for cutting out the image for my main cover star, Florence.  I found a tutorial on Photoshop to show me how to cut out the main cover star so I could use it for my magazine.

The next thing I needed to do was use Indesign to add all the different features that were used in the original cover, including all of the other celebrities. I found that indesign was the most difficult software out of the two, as there are many different tools to use and it is hard to find what I wanted to do. I used these two tutorials which helped me to find the tools I was looking for and just to gather an overall understanding of the software.

One problem which made me struggle was the image I chose to recreate, as the colour schemes were both different so I had to find a way to make the text more readable. I did this by adding a white banner to go behind the text, which acted as a border to separate the two colours and brought out the text to make it easier to read. I edited with the white background for the text to help it blend in with the rest of the cover.

The tutorials were rather long, however, they covered the basis of my problems which aided me in producing a fitting recreation of the magazine cover.
