Prelim Task Mood Montage

In a group of three, we have been asked to create a story board for a montage that we will be making which will last no more than 40-60 seconds that will convey the:

  • Ideas
  • Issues
  • Themes
  • Moods
  • Emotions

Which are suggested within the brief.  Our theme is ‘the best things in life are free’.  We are hoping that the montage will be happy and fun.

In my opinion my montage has an impact on the audience because it makes them smile and think about all the best things in life and when watching the montage you do get a sense of feeling and some sort of connection to the montage and understand the story behind it.

At 0:03 there is a cut to a close up from behind someone to show that there is a purpose for the other person running because he was running to give his friend a hug.  In this montage there is a sense of progression when more an more people are added to the cuts to show more people joining in of the best things in life but also we are trying to reflect an experience of people saying hello and goodbye and seeing all the best things in life that makes people smile and enjoy life.

There are repetition of shots in this montage (close up) to show emotion and meaning on the characters facial expressions.  Additional further shots I would liked to of had in the montage is an extreme close up on the group of people laughing to make sure the audience know that that cut is about laughing.

Focus forward has helped me in basic editing and how to add clips and edit cuts together to create the montage, this will help me in my future projects such as my music video when I will need to be able to add clips together.
