Web Page Draft 2

This is the final draft of our website: (please click on image to take you to full website)

After listening back to the feedback from our peers and media teacher, we continued to improve L.U.N.A’s website until we had.

  • Changed the background
  • Added a ‘Recent News’ page
  • Re-arrange the Photos
  • Created Luna’s own Merchandise

Overall, after improving the website, it will help the target audience see the new merch, new feed, and albums Luna is getting up to in a simplistic but attractive way.

Web Page Draft 1

Here is our website (please click on image to see full page)

L.U.N.A’s first draft of the website was very successful, as we were able to gather information and images about our artist and compile them into a website, with pages for photos, music videos, merchandise, tour dates, news and an about page. However, we did self assess our website, and came up with some feedback for our next draft.

  • Adding a few extra album covers that we have created.
  • Changing the background so they attention of the audience is drawn to the images and writing rather then the bright and bold background.
  • Make sure the navigation/menu bar is bigger and more noticeable.
  • Make more news stories, and possibly add some tweets?
  • Font wise – maybe keeping the big blocks to just the headings?
  • Add a review on the music video page, to give more information to the audience

We then were given teacher feedback which furthered are knowledge as to what to improve:

  • Calligraphy font is a bit hard to read in blocks of copy so use it only for the headings and then choose a less is more font for the copy.
  • Couple of news stories on a news page?
  • Look at the ordering of the pages – would about come near the end…surely higher up?
  • Need the DP to feature higher up and use some of the artwork as a background perhaps? Remember the site is to promote the DP.
  • Couple of previous album covers in a discography section?
  • Social Media’s is Medias….no apostrophe and they are far down the page so don’t show up immediately.
  • Not sure about the pineapples.
  • Photos -give them some framing or shadow to pop them and some captions?
  • The banana menu is hard to see…..

Overall this feedback will give us an idea of what we need to change for Draft 2 of our webpage and ensure the audience can easily access our webpage which will hopefully include everything our webpage needs to.

Website Previous Students Work

While researching about typical media conventions associated with our website, I decided to go back and pick a previous students website and analyse it to get and idea of what I should put in my own.

This is the previous students website (please click link attached to photo see full website)

Firstly, the reason I chose ‘The XX,’ is due to the similarity in for example, the abstract design, simple yet bold font and purple/blue/pink colour scheme which my group’s website is going to be. The website itself is easily accessible.

Navigation wise – This website offers the target audience a unique experience, where no clicks are needed to see all the information on the website as it is just a scroll away, making the website easily accessible, for example they have links to their albums, music videos, tours and social media sites.

I was also able to find out a lot of information about the star, as there is are links to all the social media sites and an about page which gives an insight into ‘The XX” life. Photos are in the discography page which felts the audience feels more engaged as to what the artist is getting up to, and links the ‘The XX tour website.’ As there are photos of their tours, and casual life

The branding of the website also represents the artist effectively, with the fonts, images and design of the website which helped me also gain ideas for my own website.

Lastly, Blumer and Katz’ uses and gratification were shown really effectively in their website through the, purple/blue and pink colour palette, layout, graphic designs, images and fonts used to attract the target audience.

Overall, this has increased my knowledge in the area and I will use this furthered knowledge to create my website to the best of my ability to suit the artist, genre and target audience.

Web Page Conventions

While researching about our website, we analysed Sigala’s website, and spoke about the media conventions his website portrayed, such as Blumer and Katz, where we talk about the gratification and target audience. We also looked at how Sigala has formed his website to attract, interest, desire and put action into his work to draw the viewers in. This gave us an insight into what we needed to design and attract  our target audience to our website.

Here is a screencastify of us analysing Sigala’s website.
