Media is used for many different thing and is used in many different ways. For example Blumler and Katz said Media can be used for:

• Information– as you can see on my collage I have many social network platforms which update me and tell me what is going on in the world.
• Personal Identity– I watch a lot of youtube and many youtubers have shaped who I am today. I use their catchphrases and share similar opinions to them.
• Integration and social interaction– Here I have different bands that I listen to and I connect with other people who like the same bands as I do.
• Entertainment– As usual people like to relax and have a rest. For me I like to watch a lot of reality TV and dramatic films. This is because i can watch other peoples lives mess up so I don’t feel so bad about mine.

All these things build up the concept of Media and there are many more ways to use Media as well. Technology today makes it easier than ever to not only consume media but also prosume media. People today spend so much time listening, watching and sharing media. So much that it has become a necessity for some audiences today. We become addicted to certain types of media because if we don’t look at any media then we feel as if we are missing out. Us as an audience wants to be included in the world and keep on top of daily events, whether this may be the daily occurrences of our favorite youtuber from life changing events like earthquakes or forests burning down. Either way every single person is connected with media in some way or another.

This will help my knowledge and give me help with my music magazine because I will need to consider different ways to promote my magazine and different ways to get more of an audience. This will also help me with my editing skills since I need to put collages together and work with different ways of how to produce my media.

Media Ecology is made up of many different components. Each component needs the others to continue. One component can’t carry on without another. Everything works together.

• Social Media
• Institutions
• Creators
• Distribution
• Technology

For my music magazine. I would be the creator. However to produce magazines you have to have the money to fund for it. You need to make sure the magazine is suitable for children. People would read the magazine. For people to read the magazines you need to distribute them somewhere. You cannot create a magazine without the technology but then the states and institutions have to provide the technology. Everything relies on each other. All the parts need one another too co-exist.

In media we created a Fire Station that was Ecological. The old man’s dinosaur would get stuck up the tree and the people in the fire station would save it. The government would pay the Fire Stations workers and then the workers would help the citizens of the town. The citizens would pay the government when they were helped and everything would need each other to work for the whole system to work. This way everyone is happy.

The point of the lego exercise was for us to understand and show how a part of life would work in a ecological system. We were put in groups and were asked to choose a place that we could turn into an ecological system. We chose to do a fire station. Then we had to recreate the fire station out of lego and explain our system to the class.

This helped with my understanding of ecologies because we got to visualise and interpret it in our own way. This way we could understand things better. We could see how the systems all interlink and how media interlinks and components rely on each other.

Within these two years I would like to improve on my producing skills, communication skills and my editing skills. I already have some knowledge on how to produce media. I have had blogs in the past and youtube channels. I also like to create music and edit it. I have created many social media.

• Tick Tock.

I find media very interesting because our generation uses it constantly and it has become almost a necessity for some people within the world. I believe that media would improve my confidence skills and I think that I would be able to communicate with people around the globe better. I think that media will also help me with my time management. I’ve always found media really fascinating and I can’t wait to learn more about media.
