mise-en-scene

mise en scene is a french term that refers to that everything gin the scene has some meaning to influence the scene i was asked to look at the two sisters and the preist, these characters are meant to be high class individuals of spain that support the fascist nation. These characters are there. In this scene all of characters are wearing dark and drab cloaths (browns and blacks) this may represent death or how a classic villain archetype is to wear black and dark colours, this also allows said characters to blend into the background this is probably because they are not incredibly important characters not affecting the plot all that mutch and acting only for exposure for the plot.. This is the movie not so subtlety telling the audience that these arnt nice people and this is clearly supported by the subtext of there lines. They act quite statically not moving much and less expression in there face speaking with very dry tones this is again most likely due to the fact there not important this means more attention is being portrayed to the captian the lighting also heavily hints at this witch the preist and the isters only expirencing warm light over there head witch makes them seem allot less powerfull than the captain whos pictured with a roraing fire behind him. These factors all together clearly show the relationships between these charatcers quite clearly and show the audience very clearly whos incharge.
