NARRATIVE STORYBOARD

Below is a storyboard that we have planned out together to convey our narrative within our music video, we have created another shoot due to not having enough clips from the previous shoot. Our aim for this storyboard is to show guilt, regrets, and remorse towards gambling as this is where his addiction and obsession has lead him to. Structuring out each scene allows us to break it down into smaller pieces and focus on each box whilst shooting. We have included a variety of different camera angles such as close up, long shots, low angles, reaction shots. By doing this allows us to really focus on the Mes as we will make sure that the narrative is very clear to the audiences so that they will have a good understanding of the video. Our storyboard is chronology, as we have shown throughout the storyboard that he is slowly regretting his decision in life and how his obsession has brought his life to prison, we have also started our story with a balanced equilibrium. Having added in notes of a variety of shoot ideas will help us refer back and remember what we need to cover within our shooting, this will be useful as it will ensure all of us to follow the structure and the repertoire of the elements.

Final Song Choice and redesign pitch

Within my group, we have come to the conclusion of using Millie’s song,(Otherside – Red Hot Chilli Peppers). We have chosen her song as our initial pitch because as an individual we had a perfect idea of how to convey the narrative for the music video and we each added in our ideas in a shared slideshow. We want to present our music video with the ideas of an amplified and illustrative narrative whilst adding in a performance so it will be a combined narrative. As a group, we have discussed how to present the star image throughout the production and we have added in images of our ideas for the themes and Mes en scene we would like to use so that our music video would come across as understandable towards the audiences. This task has helped me to work as a group is able to create a successful music video in the future and it has helped me to be organized whilst planning.

Prelim task mood montage

In this task, we have created a storyboard to help conveys our theme of loneliness/loss.The storyboard will help us know which angles we’re taking the shots from as well as the transitions we need to set up, it also helps to remind us what the exact narrative is and to remind us that we need to convey the theme of loneliness. We have planned out our montage to help be more organized when we come to shooting and we have included a variety of shots such as close up, long shot, transition, and tracking shot. We have panned it roughly so that it makes narrative sense and by using elements such as Mes en scene, edits, sounds, and camera we are able to create the atmosphere of abandonment and isolation.

For this task, we had to film our montage and edit the videos on software, Premiere pro. The aim was to create a montage by using different camera angles and Mes en scene to convey the idea of loneliness and loss. Above is our embedded montage which is up on YouTube

strength

  • good use of camera angles
  • clear narrative
  • shots in focus

weakness

  • inappropriate use of langue within lyrics
  • no transition
  • use of bad framing

Within this task, I have learned how to use the software Premiere pro, how to adjust clips and edit them, add in music and texts and export the montage. From this, it will come in handy when I come to making my music video in the future because I will know how to edit my video so that it will convey the narrative of the video. Camera and editing techniques that we have studied will also help me because I will know how to apply them to my music video and it will be useful to help connate the atmosphere and mood of the narrative. Understanding my own strength and weakness will allow me to learn from them and in the future, I can correct my past mistake. How that I have a clear understanding of the software I can apply my knowledge and skills to my music video/

CHOSEN ADVERTS

Advert 1

I have chosen this to be my advert as Jennie Kim presents a Kpop girl group known as Blackpink. The highest-charting female Korean act on the Billboard Hot 100, Blackpink has skyrocketed to fame globally after its initial ascent in South Korea.Jennie Kim is  the global ambassador for Chanel which fits in my genre of Kpop due to their love for designer brands, so I think that it suits my demographic really well.By including adverts it will help bring in the target audience so that you can catch their attention and drawn a better understanding for them, its it also allows them to engage with the genre. The brand Chanel focuses on women’s high fashion and ready-to-wear clothes and luxury goods as it is a world wide allowing different diversity to recognise its name.

Advert 2

For my second advert I have decided to use Jessi album cover known as Un2verse. Yet again another worldwide brand (Gucci) is included and I think that it fits in with my genre.Jessica Hyun-ju Ho is an American-South Korean rapper and singer and I think that this advert will attract my target audiences to follow the demographic of Kpop. Her album cover uses AIDA as it catches the viewers attention and creates the appropriate music related to Kpop as well as Gucci which may promote the brand.
