My Favourite Film

Pride and Prejudice (2005)

This film is an all time favourite of mine and I love it because it is a beautiful depiction of a classic story written by novelist Jane Austen in 1813. Pride and Prejudice is a humorous tale about love, family and life during the Elizabethan period, and the reason I enjoy it is because it contains many emotions that the audience can relate to, it’s characters are witty and lovable and the story line is both beautiful and unpredictable. I believe it is truly a timeless tale that will never tire form the screen.

I greatly enjoyed Knightley’s performance as she not only embodies the characters class and therefore social upbringing, but also makes her comical and relatable to the modern audience. Her character is both believable and authentic to the era, which enhances the story setting of Elizabethan England.

Due to the nature of the era in which the film is set, there is a great deal of non-verbal communication throughout to imply subtext to the audience, which is done not only impeccably, but in such a way that it encourages the audience to inquire further into the context that’s embedded in the story.
