Design Skills 2

Whilst working on our second draft of our music video we have developed some new design skills in Premiere Pro.

Firstly, we have learnt to add a neon edge to our performer, which we feel has successfully added to her electro-pop star image. In order to do this we have developed skills working with the lumetri colour scale and the emboss tool.

Another tool we have developed skills in using is the use of markers to aid us in editing to the beat. This has been important in order for the narrative and performance to match up to the lyrics or when there is a key moment in the music.

In order for us to successfully construct our jump cuts, which we felt added to the mysterious and eerie atmosphere in our video, we used the strobe light tool. By layering clips and using this we were able to emphasise a key theme of entrapment.

Finally, a key skilled we have developed is how to use masks. This enabled us to essentially create clones and flip, move and realign them. This had helped to convey key themes in the narrative such as the fact that she is being held hostage by her own fears and emotions.
