The task was to show all the useful software, technology and hardware that I used during the whole process of making my magazine, from research and the planning at the beginning to how I presented the final product and everything that came between this.

Second Shoot Contact Sheet(s)
The second shoot went well, I am satisfied with the images I took and I know which one is my favourite and will be used in the background of my dps. the image below is my favourite as I think the movement of my model and how the image was taken to the side of him made it stand out to the other images. I directed my model to do this as I thought it would create an interest from the audience about what he’s doing, they may wonder where he’s going or why he’s in a street like this, the image links well with my article and overall is the perfect image for my magazine.

Reflection
Throughout the production of this magazine it has taught me vital lessons in making a magazine, at the start I had no knowledge on the production of a magazine and I wasn’t aware of the different parts of production of a magazine. At the beginning we carried out research in our competition to analyse the conventional features of a magazine and to understand what I needed to include. I had to learn how to use a camera with a flash kit in order to take photos for my magazine. I had to do my research on other music magazine in my genre which gave me an understanding of what I needed to include in my magazine. I had to learn how to use photoshop to be able to cut out my images and to edit them slightly, then to put these into inDesign and to acquire a knowledge of how to layout a magazine.
After many drafts I was able to identify the problems and what I needed to add or improve for the next draft, I knew what I had to do to finalise my magazine and I’m satisfied with how it turned out.
Question 3: How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
The Media Podcast made by Alex and Jack
For this task, me and my partner worked together to create a podcast style answer to “How did your production skills develop throughout this project?”
To begin the podcast we made sure to introduce ourselves and our podcast to the audience, we clearly announced each category and speak clearly all the way through, and ended with a small outro. For this task we aimed for it to be 6 or more minutes long , also we colour coded the script so that it would be easier to read when recording the podcast.
To record our voice we used the app ‘Voice memos’ on my iPhone, we made sure to hold the phones microphone closely to our mouths to make sure we were loud and easily heard by our audience. We exported the voice recording straight from my phone to my google drive then from their to the blog.

I think this design would be a good fit for my magazine, I feel that it fits the genre and after analysing my competition I recognised this design has been used before in other hip hop magazines, which is why I thought it was a good design for mine.

1st Draft of The Double Page Spread
Self Assessment
After reviewing my first draft I have concluded which parts I like about it and recognised the parts that I need to change. I like the background image as I feel it fits the genre. I also like the colour scheme although I may alter it slightly I feel that it works. However I don’t like the layout of the the text, I need to add a standfirst underneath the masthead. I don’t like how there is a lot of free space on the left so I will try and add something to that side in order to make the page look better. I need to get rid of the small image under the masthead, I feel that it doesn’t go with the rest of the page. I need to test out other looks with the text whether it’s shading behind the writing or changing it to black, I will try out different looks. The masthead needs to change, I will increase the size of it and put ‘Ethan MC’ on a separate line to make it stand out.

What’s New?
Fx, after my first draft I have tried out some of the fx on InDesign, I have changed the opacity of the background in attempt to make the spread look better and to fit the genre.
What’s Next?
The Competition, next I will analyse and take inspiration from other hip hop magazine’s to understand what I need to include in my magazine.
Layout, I will experiment with the layout of the text to test out different looks for my pages, I have concluded that I need more text on the left side and will decide what to add to that side.#
Picture, The picture under the masthead may needed to be changed, I will see if I have taken a picture that fits better, I feel as if it is too dark compared to the rest of the page.
Article, I will finish my article for my next draft
