Editing Process

Intro: We are learning practicing and developing different editing techniques we have used the basic tools such as how to make a cut how to split a video and transitions when doing the other small tasks. We have now also learnt other devices such as colour correction how to put motion into a frame and how to add a strobe to the shot.

This picture is showing the fast colour correction wheel. This changes the saturation of a shot to the colour you choose, we have chosen as a group to go with a dark blue colour to make it fit in and look like a thriller.

This picture is also colour correction but this is the level of white and black is in it. You have the imput levels for the and black and white and you also have the output levels for it too. This means you can get the shot darker or brighter. This will also have a big impact on shadows too.

This picture is showing video effects and transitions. The effect that is applied is called a cross dissolve and it will smoothly fade between two shots. We have put this at the start of our thriller so it will fade in from black. This is an effective transition and is used a lot during a montage, it shows that the time has passed.

This picture is showing the motion controls. This means we can add movement to our shots. we can apply this over time for example we could add a small dolly in or add a pan across the shot. This works well with creating more tension.

This picture is showing the strobe light effect. we have tried to apply this to our final shot to give it more tension. A strobe is a fast flash usually white.

This is our timeline where we have used the razor tool to chop up our timeline to create black moments. we have also overplayed some videos too.

This shot is showing the cut tool. this tool is how to edit the raw footage, with this we can cut the start and cut the end. we can also take footage out from the middle too.
