Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

To evaluate how our own media product, our film Exposure, we looked back on our research into the thriller conventions, we found that our film was actually very conventional toward the thriller genre. Below you can see a prezi which explores all of the different ways in which our film follows and challenges the conventions.

Sound FX/Music

We started to add some sound to our sequence, adding both diegetic and non-diegetic. This has really enhanced our film, as I think sound can be so important to set the tone and atmosphere, which is especially important in a thriller film, as we want to build a sense of anticipation and tension.

Volumesss

Here you can see how we mixed some of the sounds together, or rather layered them within our thriller, this helped to create the feeling of built expectations and it was really useful to be able to change the volumes of certain sounds.

Here you can see some of the sounds we imported into Premiere Pro, I think it was really useful to be able to change our sounds immediately within the programme.

We changed the volume of the different sound affects we put in to make it appear more natural, we also lowered the volumes of some the original clips, however, I think we will have to lower some of them even more.

Foley Sound & Music

When researching into sounds, we created some of our own Foley sounds, such as the footsteps, door openings and the thud of his hand on the table. You can listen to some of our own sounds below:

Additionally, some of the sounds we were not able to create. Therefore we used some useful websites and found them, which you can listen too below. These tended to be the non diegetic sounds, such as the moment our protagonist wakes up and the general background music to the whole sequence.
