Music Video Draft 1 – Rough Cut

Component 3, Music Video

During the post production process of our music video, we use premiere pro to edit our music video. Below is a rough cut of our first shoot, we did this to gather a rough idea of what it is like using premiere pro so our final cut will be the best of our ability. Once we understood the basics of premiere pro, we attempted to edit to the beat, match up the star performers lip syncing and use a wide variety of different angled shots.

WHAT WENT WELL:

  • The timing of our lip syncing matched up well with the music video
  • Our star image was portrayed effectively through emotion, affection and fun
  • When editing, we managed to edit to the beat and vary the screen time of each       clip
  • The repetoire of elements was portrayed effectively for our chosen genre       through costume, MES, lighting, direct mode of address and acting
  • Me and my partner are capable of editing our clips on premiere pro as we understand the apps programme
  • We managed to gather a variety of shots that will help keep the audience entertained when watching the music video

IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE:

  • In some of our clips the lighting could have been better, resulting in us having to use different tools on premiere pro to improve it
  • Even though our lip syncing matches up well, in some clips it is a tiny bit slow
  • Now we have the basic rough cut of our music video, we can begin experimenting with the different effects on premiere pro
  • To keep the audience interested, we need to vary the screen time of different clips
  • Ensure that the quality of our music video is good enough (use premiere pro to sharpen our clips)

Focusing forward, now we have the basics down of how to edit our music video, we have a rough idea of the success criteria for our next shoot (narrative), as we know what to avoid doing and what needs to be done to make our music video the best of our ability.
