Social Media page Draft 1 self assessment

Click here or the image below to look at our first draft of our social media page:

Below is the feedback given from our teacher – she has produced a screen castify giving us constructive comments on how we can improve our social media page:

The feedback which we received was mainly positive and there were many aspects that our teacher liked about our first draft of our social media page including the gif and the video of the star talking about her live stream night to her audience. However, although we had many positive we were given a list of things in which we can improve on and make them better:

  • Responding in the comment sections
  • Adding something into the review and about section of her Facebook Page
  • Linking to an Instagram account or to other social media accounts
  • Link to a site in which the audience are able to purchase her merchandise
  • Putting the whole of the music video for Panic Room in
  • Adding in some product collaborations
  • Adding comments to the #blackouttuesday post
  • Use more hashtags
  • Create a tour poster

Self Assessment:

  • Design Coherence: – My group ensured that our social media looked complete and equally a coherent product overall, we made sure it fit within the rest of the product for example the digipak. We were able to achieve this by having a consistent colour palette throughout the product we’ve created. We used pink, purples and blues throughout.
  • Content – We have a wide variety of different posts in order to appeal to everyone, for example we have included a promo gif for the music video, alongside a video of the star promoting a live stream event, and photos of our star on set of her latest music video shoot.
  • Synergy – We have used synergy in a particular post, in which we highlighted a a collaboration with another up and coming artist called Fabrice. We used a teasing caption “Something big is coming soon…” This will help to create buzz and appeal to both of the stars target audiences.
  • Timeline – We included multiple teaser posts before fully announcing the latest music video along with the album. For example of this is when we uploaded photos from the music video shoot in order to create a buzz with the audience and also closer to the time of being released we posted a teaser gif of the music video in order to engage with the audience and create excitement.
  • Cross Media Convergence – In terms of using Cross Media Convergence we posted our star appearing to go for an interview at Capital FM, by using this particular post it highlights another form of media on her social media page, and marketing herself to a larger audience.
  • Promotion of Live Events – Our group decided to not post about an up and coming live tour as we thought it was best to stay on topic and relevant with the current climate of the world in terms of the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of posting a live tour, we uploaded a video of our star announcing a stay at home livestream concert that would be used instead of the live tour.
  • A Call To Action –  We included a wide range of different calls to action within our social media page. These included links to a website we created in which you could purchase products via the merchandise announcement on our facebook page, in addition to that we used a Spotify link for the audience to listen to the actual song.
  • Ordinary/Extraordinary – Our Social Media Page helps to convey the ordinary aspect of our star. This is illustrated in a particular video in which she announces her stay at home livestream concert. Our star is presented to be very ordinary as she is seen in this video she is sat in her room wearing a simple hoodie along with natural hair and minimal makeup, highlighting that she is similar and relatable to her fans.
  • Interaction/Engagement – Throughout our stars facebook page there is constantly interaction between her fans in the comment sections of her posts, in order to adapt and improve on this factor, we could have our star begin to respond to comments to further her ordinary lifestyle and engagement with her fans.
  • Sell Physical Copies – When regarding physical products, my group created a merchandise site in which we included products relating to our artist’s up and coming album. However, we have not yet linked anywhere to physically purchase the album, only on streaming platforms, which is something that we can certainly improve on.
  • Issues and Charities – While doing research, my group found out that our chosen star posts and consisntely comments on current issues in society today, thus meaning we thought it was a good idea to use this in our social media page as it is equally important to us, This being said, we have included posts about mental health, the BLM movement and additionally coronavirus in a bid to engage more with the fans as it is an ever changing ordeal in the world.

Timeline and Marketing ideas

Above is our marketing campaign in the style of a timeline which will we be using when it comes to creating our social media page based off of our star. We have included different types of posts such as introducing merchandise, a live stream concert, and teaser for the latest music video. We have planned them so they are in chronological order. We hope for our target audience to be able to socially interest with our star making her ordinary rather then extraordinary. In addition to that we hope to educate and promote to the audience about any up and coming events involving Astrid. This will keep the audience engaged and interested with the star.

Audience interaction with a social media page – an analysis

Below is the screencastify made in which we answered in-depth analysis of Au/Ra’s Facebook Page:

In order to understand what makes a social media a success, we analysed Au/Ra’s Facebook page, making sure to be using the technical conventions and equally how the Facebook page links into Blumler and Katz’s Uses and Gratification Theory and equally how she presents herself to her fans.

Below is the script:

Social Media Page Terminology

Before creating our own Facebook page about our star, myself and my group conducted research into a popular star in our selected genre. In the electropop genre we decided to look at Billie Eilish’s page, we did this in order to get an understanding what the technical conventions of a social media page look like.

When reflecting on this task, I have learnt many things that will benefit me when I am constructing my own social media page in order for it to be a success, they are the following:

  • The about section
  • A revelant cover photo
  • Captions containing links, text and hashtags
  • Tabs
