A Front Cover Analysed

My Chosen Front Cover:

After learning the design features/elements of a magazine we were given a task where we had to select and analyse a front cover from a selection of different ones. Our main focus was who the target audience was for our magazine and how different design features attract this audience in which this magazine cover is aimed at. My chosen magazine was distinctly designed to attract the younger generation(teenagers & young adults) and anyone interested in the LGBTQ+ community or pop/music culture. The target audience are people who have a strong view on equal rights which suggests they are warm, kind hearted people.

Billboard:

Billboard is the world’s most influential music media brand and is built on its exclusive charts and unrivalled reporting on the latest news, issues and trends across all genres of music. Billboard is a popular, modern, trendy magazine which is probably why it chose to cover this subject and have the target audience that it does. As the target audience is the younger generation which are interested in issues like this going on in today’s world and use social media a lot they are likely to use it to spread these issues and concerns to spread awareness. This works well with Billboard as they also use different types of media to spread awareness. About the Audience:

While completing this task I found out that doing research on your chosen target audience will help you create a more successful magazine as if you have selected a target audience you magazine will be more likely to appeal to them compared to if you hadn’t chosen a target audience. When I come round to designing my music magazine I will make sure to do the appropriate research needed to make sure the front cover will appeal to my chosen target audience as much as possible. To make this successful I will have to think about and consider the audience’s psychographic and their demographic. Psychographic’s of the audience is a term used to describe the more changeable features such as their opinions and interests. Demographic’s of the audience is a term used to describe the unchangeable features of someones personality such as their ethnic background.
