Branding Ideas and Mission Statement

KEY TERMS: mission statement, brand, genre, USP (unique selling point), uses and gratification theory (entertainment, information, personal identity, social interaction).

Now that I am starting to plan and create my music magazine, I had to choose a genre and title for my magazine. To have a Brand that fits in with the genre is important as it gives the product a name and helps it get well known and people can spread the word of your brand.

The genre I have chosen to do my magazine on is Indie Pop. I have chosen this genre of music because this is some of this type of music I listen to. I thought if I did my magazine on something I enjoy it would help me to be more motivated to get the work done and I would have more ideas on how to design my magazine and what conventional design features should be added.

The title I have chosen to use for my magazine cover is Pop United. I chose this name because straight away it links with the genre of music. This will help grab more peoples attention especially if they are interested in this genre of music and may make them want to read it more. This shows that it is appropriate for the genre of music I’ve chosen.

My mission statement:

Pop United is a brand new modern magazine which will the new favourite magazine for those of you who love Pop music. We will cover upcoming stars as well as your current favourite Pop artists, giving you the latest gossip, exclusive news, the newest top stories from some popular well-known artists and new album and tour releases and dates from artists in the Top Pop Charts. With this magazine we aim to influence and inspire the younger generation in particular to get attached and get back into listening to Pop and keeping up with the latest news in the Pop world. Pop United wants to help their readers learn to express themselves in the best way possible.
