Introduction:

In this task we had to analyze a previous students music video that was similar to the one we are creating. We looked at what they did well to help us find some targets for our own music video.

What went well:

• Shots match the pace/beat of the song
• Good use of effects and not overloaded it
• Good amount of close ups
• Variety of different distance shots

Targets to improve on:

• Make some of the longer shots shorter as the longer shots may get boring and since the song has a fast tempo it looks better to use shorter sharper shots to give off a better effect of both the star and the narrative.
• Make sure the shots fit with the beat of the more fast pace parts of the song. This refers to our montages in particular as as some shots are way out from the beat of the song which decreases the whole impact of the montage.
• Make use of some of the effects e.g. colour correction. This will help the narrative and performance a lot as it will make the setting look more dark and dingy which our aim for the video. It will also make the star look more present and stand out more and for the shots to not look as flat.
