In doing this task I have learn’t that music videos can vary in the content but they always have a purpose. There are three different ways in which a music video can be made. These are; Illustration, Amplification and Disjuncture. Illustrative music videos are music videos that relate to mainly the lyrical content in the song. Amplification is when the video relates to the song but however also contains other footage that is complimentary to the song and adds more meaning to the overall product. Disjunctive music videos do not contain anything that relates directly to the song itself, they are mainly performance based and tend to be more entertaining than meaningful.
