Timeline and Marketing ideas

This is the plan for the social media page posts which include the content and order of posts. This brief collective of notes will help us to accuratly build up to the release of the album and create tension in order to intrige the audience and maintian interest. One of the most key features of the plan is to sell the audience product which includes merchandise and music, this will inturn lead to more customer retention as the audience will feel included within the fanbase. Furtheremore the audience will be interacting with the artists and eachother, a decent example of using AIDA to affectivly attract, keep and sell to the audience. Another point to note is that the timing of posts is very important as the posts will be updates on the big release of our main attraction for example the teaser post. The action of buying products is a promt to the audience to make action, while the actual selling of the merchandise is planned to be done without mass production to create exlusivity and therefore maintain the hype around the star image/merchandise.

From these slide I believe we can take inspiration from marketing campaigns such as glass animals, oasis, and U2. Glass animals in particular as they have had recent succuess within the music industry with thier digital and social media approach, for example they have taken thier videos to youtube and done synergy with other relevent music artists. To add they have also heavily used social media which is an inspiration our band would like to take and recreate in our own way.

Digipak Draft 2

Here is my draft two of the music video, I have reflected from the last drafts feedback and had a discussion on what the best way to move forward will be. We have tried focusing more on the key conventions while also challenging them within our digipak. The title of the digipak may have to be changed quickly as it is already an existing album name however it creates a good sense of beggining to a different style of indie rock which is something we will be looking for in our album name. Other than that we will have to make some changes to the easthetics and refine the whole thing making neccecary changes to any formal conventions.

Digipak Draft 1

Summary:
Here is our first draft digipak  which is a rough draft of the first and last page, we have made use of photoshop to manaipulate the first image and make it black and white. I think this gives it a rouph feel and it goes well with our generic conventions. The selection of mise on scene in our video I think is decent as we have chosen the generic costumes, a setting also generic to our genre and we have added text text over our digipak in appropriate conventional places to inform the viewer. I think I have made good use of DTP as I have integrated the images and text and made them the colour of our choice using photoshop and indesign.

Targets for improvement:

  • Get started and complete the other two pages of our digipak
  • improve the font and colour of the text
  • improve the editing of each image
  • look at finding a filter which suits what we are trying to go for
  • look at possibley a different image on the last page
  • go over the song names and album name

Evaluation of shoot

Evaluation:
The the images in this slide show have been chosen to be our digipak. The first image is the front page of our digipak which is a photo of the stars walking down a road from the back, the second shot is of our singer running away from a car, the third is of him on the bonnet as he has been hit by the car, then finally the last shot is one of us walking down the road from the front. These shots will be good for our digipak becuase they are creative, showcase the musicians and gives of an inviting and intriguing apeal. I believe our photos of the car are also a references to the fact that our band aims to reject the norms of the generic conventions of indie rock, this is evident in that most digipaks in our genre such as the kooks take a generally serious approach to thier digipaks, while ours has less of that and more of a playful and relatable perception.

Contact sheet

Summary:
This is a contact sheet showing all the images we have taken on the shoot including different angles and shot types such as our mid shots and long shots. A few of these will be slected and put in our work to create the digipak. Overall I think the shoot went well considering the options of photos we have and the quality even though are camera did not work we were still able to take them on an iphone.

PMA and Risk Assessment for DP shoot

Summary:
Here is our PMA for our digipak shoot, it includes all information about the loaction, time and other details so our whole team knows where to be and what to bring.  This is a useful feature as it solves any confusion and represents preparation for our photoshoot. The PMA also contains information on the mise on scene such as our clothing which is quite a particular style as we are doing the sub genre indie rock. The costumes mostly conatain casual dark dressware clothing. In concusion the PMA for our group is definatly a very useful thing to have as if we have any doubts we can always refer to our PMA to see what we have planned for the shoot.

DP Mockup:
Here are some images that represent ideas we have for the kind of digipak we are going for, they each follow the generic conventions of indie rock digipaks with the mise on scene and the general feel of the cd front cover which is a look so easily recognisable. This means that our digipak will be interpreted as the generic indie rock CD. We have decided on a set colour scheme of black and white with red or white text with borders so they can be easily read. However this may change as we discover colours to replace or add to the scheme, perhaps different text colour.

Digipak Conventions Analysis

Summary:
As I have analized another band in our genre I now have more knowledge and have gained a deeper understanding of the conventions of digipaks. This analysis was specific to my indie rock genre, therefore I can also gain some inspiration and a good ideal of my own DIGIPAK. I now know the features that distinguish the indie rock genre from other genres which is an abnormal, creative and unique feel. This being said there is a lot of freedom with what we can make however, there are still conventions such as the colour scheme and main theme of which I would like to follow.

The Look Book – the package

Made with Padlet

Summary:
Our group have created a look book with images and captions with information about the conventions of indie rock. This includes colour scheme, demographics and other information abou our genre. This will help us as we now have a huge idea of what is included in our genre and gives us examples of stars and other social media pages. Overall this will greatly help us in creating our DIGIPAK.

Our Mission Statement – The Package Brand

Summary:

In this slideshow we have explained in detail our marketing strategy and mission statement which consists of identifying our audience, what we are going to do as a marketing strategy,  identifying the competition, unique selling point and the mission statement for our band as a whole. I believe our band has taken an approach which involves a lot of socila media and business such as cross media convergence, both of which will the help the band to gain publicity. Overall I would confidently say we have a decent plan and mission statement that will aid in shooting our stars further into stardom.
