Branding Ideas And Mission Statement.
I am choosing to create a contemporary R&B genre magazine. Contemporary R&B is a modern and hip-hop take on traditional R&B which is a form of music infused with emotion and power. I have chosen this as my genre as I feel like I can create a lot of deep meaning as well as it being very visually stylish and fashion orientated. I have called my magazine ‘CHERI‘, pronounced the same way ‘cherry’. The use of capitals make the word appear bold, dominant and powerful; like my chosen music genre.
I already have a lot of personal knowledge about contemporary R&B and enjoy the aesthetic involved in making a magazine of that genre. My magazine will specifically feature females (around the age of 16-26) as I have a greater understanding on what to include and what will attract that target audience. Contemporary R&B embodies attitude, emotions and fashion; all of which are things which I am interested in and passionate about researching and creating.

‘CHERI‘ is a magazine with a refreshing, trendy feel, promising to keep you up to date with all the best R&B music and latest fashion trends associated. Bold, brave and zeitgeisty with it’s authentic style. Aims to attract 16-26 year olds as this age group are the most active R&B listeners.
The research I have made has broaden my understanding in terms of what will catch the eye of and further interest my clientelle for a female-based contemporary R&B magazine. I will apply this discovered information when creating my magazine.
