Draft Front Cover

Introduction

In this task, I created my first draft of my magazine front cover. I used my chosen masthead which I had created using InDesign which I also used to import it onto my front cover. After doing this all I did a self assessment to see what I did well, and what I need to improve on in the future when it comes onto the real thing.

Self Assessment

Reflection

This task was useful as it has helped to get a better understanding of where the improvements need to be for my second draft. Because of this, it has helped me to recognize conventional design features in my own work, and allowed me too know what works well and what doesn’t. This task has helped me to know how to make my second draft better otherwise I may have struggled.

3 Main Target Points

  • Next time I will try to make my cover star more appropriately dressed for the genre. This is because I want to make sure my star shows off and represent my genre as much as I can. This will help the reader to know that it is a Pop magazine.
  • Another thing is I will try to choose better fonts for my masthead and cover lines etc, and to make sure I display them appropriately for the genre. I also want to use more effects to make it stand out more to the reader.
  • Finally I will try to make sure to have all the conventional design features to make it look like a professional magazine cover so it comes off well to the audience.

Not only will I use my target points in the future I will also use my self assessment sheet to help me know what worked well and what didn’t.
