This is my analysis of the music video for the Katy Perry song ‘Chained to the Rhythm’. The reason for analysing this music video was to help me identify the key techniques, repetoire of elements and conventions used such as editing and Mise En Scene to help convey the message of the song and to portray the star image of the singer. I was also able to identify the effect of using an illustrative and amplified music video and how it also contributes to the narrative and the star image. Each of these conventions were relevant to the genre and I will have to remember this. It also helps to give me ideas for whether I would like to shoot a narrative or a performance video when I come to film my own music video.
