Social Media Page Draft 2

We were given screencastify feedback from our teacher, which is above, in response to the changes made from our first draft. Unfortunately, my group was not able to amend a lot as we have had difficulty getting together due to absences. Therefore the only change we managed to make was updating the bio of our social media page because we didn’t feel that it grabbed the attention of the audience. These are the notes from the feedback-

  • Need minimum 3 more posts
  • Need to respond to all comments – more intimacy and relationship
  • Grizzly partnership – good convergence, relative to genre + artist + music video
  • Tour poster was good – good for brand image and shows star as active and grafting
  • Teaser trailer for music video – great to have little video with audio
  • Use canva to showcase the other panes
  • Stories have been used well to keep fans engaged
  • Thanking fans was good
  • Behind the scenes in the studio was good.
  • Needs to feature on other digital platforms – TV, radio, newspaper
  • More gifs/videos
  • Separate two music video posts, maybe too similar
  • Need to use the posts to portray political views and personality, perhaps controversial.

From this our targets will be-

  • A charity post that can portray the views and personality of Carter IV
  • A TV or radio appearance
  • Another small video, perhaps a band practice gif.
  • Separate digipak posts from page.

We have created a social media page to help market our star and promote his content to a viral audience. Here is a link to our social media page. Click the image to go to the profile.

After reviewing our first draft of our social media page, I would say that I am quite happy with where we are currently with it. We have a consistent stream of content being uploaded to keep the audience engaged and interested and we have made an effort to reply to fan comments in order to represent our star as humble and present which will create a strong brand image. I have identified 5 targets for our second draft of our social media page.

TARGETS:

  • Try and include more coherence to the digipak through neon colours.
  • We need to include more behind the scenes content as it portrays the star as real and ordinary.
  • We want to get a brand deal with Columbia or Patagonia as their values align with that of our star, this will also help convey political views.
  • We need to edit the bio to make it more obvious where the link to the website is.
  • We need to do a shoot to create a post which will promote the physical copies of our album.

Audience Interaction with a Social Media Page

Above is a screencastify analysis of a similar bands social media page. We were analysing their social media page to try and identify how they use AIDA (attention, interest, desire and call to Action) to engage with their fanbase and keep fans loyal and active towards the stars. One key example of this is how they use a website to distribute their merchandise with a simply layout with no interruptions from third party platforms. This will be effective in giving the audience a better experience in their content, which is a USP to make them stand out from other bands. In such a digitalised age, having a simple website will go a long way in pleasing fans. Once a fan is pleased, they can share their experience over social media to thousands of people which is a very good form of promotion which would be a very effective strategy to employ in our social media campaign.

Timeline and Marketing Ideas

Made with Padlet

Embedded above is a Padlet file that we created to form a timeline. The timeline identifies what we are going to do to market and advertise our star, and how we will convey their star image and build an audience. To begin with, we used sandbox to find 3 effective marketing campaigns that we could borrow ideas from in order to have a successful marketing campaign of our own. The 3 campaigns we identified were –

  • Ashnikko – Partnership with a large global brand (Beats by Dre) and then use Tiktok to start a trending campaign, which will result in large fan engagement with new music.
  • Super M – Using a scavenger hunt to involve fans and make them feel like a part of the project, also will increase social interaction amongst fans.
  • U2 – Their campaign involved them posting weekly videos with links to their new songs. This gets the attention of the audience as they are always being given something new to look forward to which will keep them entertained and active.

The most important part of our marketing campaign using social media is to make the audience happy. This can be done by focusing on AIDA (attractive/attention, interest, desire and call to Action). These are vital to keep in mind when creating posts, as this is what our posts need to give our audience, which is why we want to stay active and post regularly and keep a connection to the audience by posting personal content to keeps fans interested so they won’t go and find a new artist to support. By personal content we mean day in the lifes, behind the scenes and anything that helps the audience to see the reality of the star behind the fame. This will portray them as ordinary which is a positive way to be represented. We are going to focus on viral marketing, by partnering with global brands such as Grizzly (skateboarding) and Patagonia/Columbia (clothing) to help reinforce our stars beliefs and personality. We will reach a much wider audience as well using brand partnerships as we will be promoted and advertised to fans of the brands as well as our own audience.

Social Media Page Terminology

Here is an analysis of key social media page terminology. It is important that I get a good understanding of this terminology as my group will be designing our own social media page and to get the best marks we must understand what makes a good social media page. The importance of a social media page to an artist or band cannot be understated. It is used for promotion, marketing, audience interaction and branding to create a star image. With a strong brand, an audience will be attracted and the social media age can be used to reach a target audience and the artist/band can create content which aligns with their preferred reading.
