Test Shoots

My group filmed a test shoot where one of us lip synced to the song that we would use for our music video and to get used to coverage of the star. We attempted to use a variety of shots which is an effective way of portraying a star image. We shot the clip outside and used basic Mise En Scene using a plain white location and used a shot of me inside of a freezer to have a variety of settings. I also wore a pair of sunglasses to just add some Mise En Scene and it represented the star as ordinary through minimal costume. We then edited the clip and added transitions, video filters and edited it to the beat and lined the music up to the lip syncing to make the video clean and help practice for editing the real music video to the beat. We felt that this video was one way that the music could be interpreted, as cheerful and energetic.

WHAT WENT WELL:

  • Good range of shots
  • Used basic Mise En Scene (sunglasses and freezer)
  • Edited on the beat well
  • Used basic transitions between clips

WHAT COULD BE BETTER:

  • Clips could be ordered better
  • More Mise En Scene
  • Edit more to make more exciting for the audience
  • Film more shots with movement in for variety.

In conclusion, this video was an introduction into how to lip sync for a music video and how to edit on beat and portray star image through camera shots and narrative for the audience to decode.
