We will be replicating the below video as our Swede. From this will will learn essential aspects of filming a music video in preparation for filming our own.

To really help to understand the assessment criteria, I looked at the work of a previous group of students who were successful in meeting these criteria.

It was interesting to see how you can go about creating a successful music video. The varied shots, editing and mise-en-scene in this video really helped to create a believable, professional product, that’s really fitting to the genre.

Star image is really important in raising their profile, so they can be sold to their fans. However they are constantly developing and changing, in order to be interesting and keep the attention of the audience. I have looked at Paramore’s meta-narrative, and created a Pinterest board which shows how they are represented in the media. You can see this by clicking the image below;

To explore, in more detail, the conventions of music videos, I looked at one specific video. I chose ‘Now’ by Paramore, which you can view below;

From this video, I looked at how different features like the performance, narrative, mise-en-scene and cinematography contribute to the interpretation of the video. You can click the image below to view my analysis;
