Music Video Shot List – Performance

Below is a link to my group’s visual shot list. This includes screenshots of Catfish and the Bottlemen’s music videos, where we think the key conventions of a indie performance stands out.

This shot list includes shots that we would like to make a replica of or similar to the actual Catfish and the Bottlemen videos.

For example the harsh high key white lighting coming from spot lights and long lights above the band. Close ups to suggest the main singer is breaking the 4th wall, trying to connect his lyrics and emotions to the audience, and Bright lights purely on one part of the band, to show their authority to their part of the song, whether its a solo or not.

From completing this piece of work I now really understand how indie music videos are made, what camera movements are used and what type of lighting, in this case there was a lot of fast paced editing, quick pans to different members of the band, and lots of high key lighting to brighten the area away from the darkness of the bands clothing.
