In preparation for creating our own music videos, I made a story bored plan for a 30 second clip I was going to portray. The storyboard contained step by step notes on various camera angles/shots and actions in order to be conventional and highlights the narrative we planned. This enabled us to understand how a narrative sequence is formed with digital technology and the key skills involved to plan, film and edit correctly and successfully.
Story Bored-
Sequence-
In each nine posted notes we had organized a plan to follow, which contained a variety of shots to convey the narrative and match the action happening in the clip. We then used a video editing, software app called Final Cut Pro to edit and develop our sequence to support editing with narrative sense. And finally we added music over the sequence as through research we found that the most successful music videos contain this in order to be a professional music video.
What went good-
- The camera was focused
- The editing works well with the background track
- Clear narrative
What did not go well-
- The last clip, needs to follow the ball
- Needs more variety shots
In one of our shots, the close up of the action of loading the ball. We used Final cut pro to slow the clip down to convey a narrative and suspense for the audience. When I come to filming and editing my music video I need to consider all the skills I have learnt from making this 30 second sequence and put them into play, I will use a variety of shots and editing techniques to create a narrative in m music video and plan in great detail all my ideas before I start so I’m organized and keep a clear narrative.
