My genre is rap, I have noticed by making a mood board on the genre that the reoccurring colour theme is very dark and depressing it displays a very unique image.
- no bright colors present the majority of the colors are black and white.
- The fonts used are similar across all the rap tour posters there is a bold large font with the name of the rapper present on them, this suggest there big artist which attracts and interest the audiences.
The AIDA is also important when looking at these posters because…
- It needs to be attractive so that people notice it.
- it needs to be interesting so people actually want to pick it up and have a look.
- It need to have desire, so they look at the poster and think ‘I want to look like that’ or ‘I want to be there’
- needs to have a call to action, so they know where to go to buy a ticket for the tour because if there was no information on the poster, no tickets will be sold.
I want my poster to be unique but also I don’t want to disappoint the audience so I have to consider common conventions for tour posters of my genre .
Here is my rap tour poster-
This is my interpretation of a rap tour poster I used the mood board I made to guide me in the right way, my tour posters got all the basic needs a tour poster has for example-
- Name of artist
- Date/ where the performance is taking place
- Were the public can peruse their tickets/ prices
- Name of tour
I also made my tour poster unique by the layout I made and colours, fonts I used. My image was also taken by me so the tour posters very original. I got the image by dressing up Izzy and taking photos of her while getting her to stand in certain positions to match the genre rap.
The layout is something I would say went well as it was very original and ended up placing together very nicely, the photo is also one of my strengths as the black and white font worked really well with the genre rap. On the other hand one of my weaknesses is the name on the tour, as I would have liked to change the colour of the line but I struggled doing so.
I have found using InDesign so much easier then when I did the MES post and have become far more creative with my design skills, by completing this task its going to hep me when I come to making my own music magazine as I have got used to InDesign a lot more and got a feel of what its like to be a designer and being creative.
