Close Analysis of Music Video

The music video I chose to analyse was Kanye West and Jay-Z’s ‘No Church in the Wild’. I chose this because I feel like this music video has a deeper meaning behind all the violence that is shown in the video, which is said through the lyrics. Although this Music video doesn’t have any performance in it, and is 100% narrative, this gives the viewer an idea that West and Jay-Z want to make the viewer focus on the video and lyrics. I know this because Kanye West particularity likes to be in the public eye and would always be in front of the camera if he had the chance.

From this exercise I have learnt that there is much more to a Music Video than just watching and listening to the lyrics, although this is needed to look into the video to get a deeper meaning of the lyrics and video.
