Early Mock Ups

What was the task?

To prepare for my music magazine, I did a mock up of the layout for the front cover, contents page and double page spread using post-it notes. I didn’t want to make the layout too complicated so I kept it simple.

For my front cover, I have the main cover star in the middle of the page so they stand out, I will have the cover line across the image and have plugs and insets on the sides to show what else will be in the magazine. The masthead ‘Rave’ will be at the top in bold so it stands out against the background. I will have a star from the inset on the front cover on my contents page, along with my mission statement and and more plugs about the rest of the magazine.  For my double page spread, I will have an image of my main cover star from the front cover in the middle, I will also have a quote next to them so it seems as if people will get more of an insight as to what they are like, and I will have the article either side of the star.

I have used plugs/pugs and insets on the front cover and contents page to draw the consumer in and make them want to read more, these plugs/pugs will be to do with the genre I have picked (drum and bass) and so will the insets. On my contents page for the index, I will have a numbered list of different pages to do with the plugs on the front cover.
