Certain genres rely specifically on certain shots in the music video as part of the repetoire of elements to convey the conventional aspects of the genre. For example:

• Heavy rock may use canted angles and hand held camera shots and whip pans to convey the energetic, rebellious, aggressive and anarchic genre
• Indie acoustic may have smoother, longer, pull focus shots which conveys the artist as laid back, genuine, sincere and calm

As a producer, it is key to produce something that is conventional but also unique to attract my audience and to make them interested in my music video. The audience may not connect with the lyrics so it is key for the music video to change their mind and reel them in, making the producers job to provide them with what they want but at the same time, push the creative boundaries so it is new and unique but also conventional and expected.
