Media entertains, informs, builds personal identity and provides a chance for social interaction. I have shown this in the collage I created bellow of the media that I consume. I have labelled each photo with the terms used above. This research has helped a lot because it has allowed me to grasp why it is so important for media to consider the Blumler & Katz theory. It is important to consider the four terms because if the target market connects with all four then they are much more inclined to buy it rather than something that does not match all of the criteria. Therefore they will be able to maximize profits.

I will need to consider these elements when making my magazine. It is very important to make something that entertains. For example a piece of media that I think entertains is the television show “Hollywood” on Netflix. Furthermore, it is also very important for some forms of media to inform. For instance I read the daily mail often which is very informative. Building personal identity is crucial in a piece of media as well. An example of media that builds my personal identity apple music. Finally, media is extremely important for social interaction. A form of media that I use social interaction for the movie “Call Me By Your Name”.
