Social Media Page Draft 2

For my second draft of my social media page I have tried to keep the blue theme throughout. However it is clear that it needs quite a lot of improvements. For example I have not added added any highlights yet. For my highlights I want to create a section on charities that my artist supports, concerts that my artist is going to and performing at and highlights of his normal life. I also want to add some guerilla marketing in the form of a chicken shop date and I need to add more links to posts. Finally, it is important that I consider entertainment, information, social interaction and personal idenity to really fulfil my artists needs and wants.

My Favourite Post

This is my favourite post because it is a great form of marketing on my social media page because it includes the streaming platform on it and it describes my artist’s genre and in the description I have also added links. It also follows the blue theme that I have used throughout my page.

Teacher’s Feedback

Target’s For My Final Draft

    • I need to change the dates on the tour poster
    • I need to add the music video
    • I need to add the back cover of my album
    • I need to add more cross media convergence
    • Add more behind the scenes to make my artist look more ordinary
    • I need to add more calls to action
    • I need to add more synergy wether that be a brand deal or collaboration with another artist.

Social Media Page Draft 1

https://www.instagram.com/b.taylor_official/

This is my first draft of my social media page. I have created seven Instagram posts targeted and curated to the rap and R&B audiences. In this posts I have focused on the paradox of the star and brand image. I have also focused on typical conventions of a musicians social media page. It is clear that I need to add more posts and ones in particular that are more interactive with the audience. My favorite post at the moment is my post on the upcoming tour because it entertains and informs.

Below I have created a self assessment of draft 1 of my social media page.

Targets For Draft 2 –

  • Add stories on charities and my artists political beliefs
  • Add a post which shows a form of guerilla marketing
  • Add a post which advertising a collaboration
  • Create engaging posts and live streams
  • Show that my artist is authentic as presents as ordinary.

Digipak Draft 3

Below is my draft 3 of my digipak. I also decided to take pictures of it in a CD case. I did this so that I could see that I could see what my digipak looked liked as a real album and if it is conventional to other albums of my genre. Using feedback that my teacher gave me from her screencastify I made many changes which make my digipak look much more professional and conventional. For example I changed the fonts I was using throughout my digipak, I made the disco ball look much brighter using photoshop and I tidied up a few mistakes that I had made along the way. Overall I am really happy with how my digipak has turned out but for my final draft I will need to make a few more touch ups, for example I need to work on the lettering further.

Feedback From Peers – What Genre Does It Represent?

To help myself to understand if my digipak aligns with my chosen genre (hip hop) , I wanted to see of my peers around me could decode, the branding, star image and metanarrative and choose my chosen genre. I gave them a piece of paper which had seven different genres on it and asked them to tick which genre they thought suited my digipak.

    • Pop –  /
    • Hip Hop – /////////
    • Indie Rock –
    • Alt Rock –
    • Rock –
    • EDM –
    • Folk –

Receiving feedback from my peers has helped massively because it was clear that most people identified the correct genre. This was extremely helpful because I now know that I am going in the correct genre and with a few more edits I will be done.

Timeline And Marketing Ideas

In order to prepare for my artist’s actual social media page, I decided to make a timeline using padlet which showed an idea of what posts I wanted to make in the order of when I want to post them.  When creating my timeline I considered AIDA, adding a guerilla marketing campaign, uses and gratifications and the paradox of a star so that audiences can feel like they can relate to him but still feel in awe of him at the same time.

Marketing Ideas

I thought it would be important to consider guerilla marketing techniques that other artists have used and possibly implement these ideas into my social media page. I used sandbox which has compiled multiple artists different marketing campaigns. One that particularly stood out to me was the top campaign created by M Huncho and his team. In his marketing campaign he did a chicken shop date interview which are often viewed millions of times across multiple different platforms. This would be a great advertising strategy for my artist as well because most interviewees are hip-hop musicians like my artist and the audiences viewing the chicken shop dates are of my target audience.

Audience Interaction With A Social Media Page – An Analysis

This is the screen castity I created where I analysed an artists instagram page and considered techniques they use to interest fans. I decided to choose The Weeknd because he is a very similar artist to mine and his use of social media is great because he uses many different technical conventions. For example he addresses aida throughout his page which is social interaction, entertainment, information and personal identity. His instagram page is great and although I don’t want to replicate I want people to view it in a similar light.

Social Media Page Terminology

In this post I accessed an artist’s social media page to see how they promote and market their music and how they target an audience. I also analyzed the technical conventions of an Instagram page and considered how these can increase engagement across fanbases, show star image and help and audience to feel connected to an artist. This was an extremely helpful task because it helped me to consider what attracts and draws new and current fans in.

Digipak Draft 2

This is the second draft of my digipak. I have added two additional panes, changed the font used, added additional colour and edited my photos in photoshop.

This is the Screen Castify that my teacher created where she tells me what she likes about my second draft and what I could do to make it better.

Feedback For My Next Draft –

  • I need to change the font I have used throughout the digipak
  • Make the chains sharper and brighter using photoshop
  • Add speech marks around lyrics and make them smaller
  • Add more lyrics on my inside pane
  • Make the disco ball pop in photoshop
  • Replace the name on the spines

After watching the digipak it is clear that I can develop my digipak further so that I can achieve a higher grade. I agree with all of my teacher’s points and I will use them going forward onto my third draft.

Digipak Draft 1

This is the first draft of the front and back cover of my digipak. Below I have assessed my first draft, considering camera, photoshop, mise en scene and the creative use of DTP. I have also considered targets for improvement for my next draft.

Targets for improvement –

  • Use photoshop further to play around with filters and positioning of my photos
  • Change the font of my text to something considered more conventional for the rap and R&B genre.
  • Add more colour and contrast to make it more interesting for audience.
  • Make the cover look less poppy and more conventional of the rap and R&B genre.

Evaluation Of Shoot Of Graphic Design

Following my shoot on Tuesday, I have began editing the first draft of my digipak.  Whilst shooting, I considered star image, the genre of my artist and brand image. Although, I am extremely happy with the  photos I took, it is clear that I could have taken more pictures so that I could decide from more options. Some things that I am happy about in my photos is the use of mise en scene. I think that his costume (shirtless with a suit jacket) fits very well with the R&B genre. I also really like the lighting and the use of blue film I placed in front of my camera which created tension and added a modern feel to my photographs. However, my favourite part of my photos was my use of high shutter speed. This created a wavy and almost euphoric effect which I think works very effectively.
