Pan’s Labyrinth Context Research
The study of the artistic and cultural context plays an important part in helping us understand some of the reasonings behind the decoration, props and setting choices that Del Toro made for this film. Studying the historical context of the spanish civil war gives us a greater understanding of Vidal and the rebels choices and actions that they make.
Researching the context of a film can and will help you get a deeper understanding of what is going on and why some characters act/ do certain things. Studying context also helps us understand more because the film writer will most likely have based the film off of some form of context.
