New Posts

For our final draft we added four more posts. The first post consisted of three images from different parts of the ‘killing boys’ music video by Maeve. The post promoted that that the music video was released and explained how fans can easily watch the video.

Our next post was promoting the release of Maeve’s new album ‘Adolescence’. The post consisted of the album cover, inside left pane and back cover with the tracklist. We wanted excitement and interaction over Maeve’s new album so in the caption we asked fans to comment their favourite songs from the album. The post also informed fans where to listen and download the album.

Following the album release we posted a tour poster for Maeve’s Europe tour. The tour poster matched the genre and star image of Maeve, with the caption helping inform fans where they can buy tickets.

Our last post for the social media page was a Grammy nomination for Maeve’s recently released album ‘adolescence’. In this post Maeve showed gratitude to her team and fans by thanking them in the caption. This post was beneficial as it showed Maeve’s ordinary side by her thanking fans and her team but also showed her extraordinary side by showing how big of a star she is by getting nominated for high profile awards. We believe this was a good final post as it is a good round off to show the artistry of Maeve.

New Highlights

For the finishing touches on our SMP we added more highlights and stories so we could keep fans updated with information and news about Maeve without overloading her page with posts.

Some changes to the highlights we made were adding two more new highlights which were ‘merch’ and ‘action aid’. We also added thumbnail  images to all six highlight categories in order for the fans to find information more efficiently.

In our ‘merch’ highlight we added two stories showing Maeve’s merchandise. This was a successful highlight as it told the fans the merch was available now and included a link to Maeve’s website to show where the merchandise could be bought.

In the ‘action aid’ highlight we added two stories. One personal story written by Maeve saying that all net proceeds from the sales and streams from the single ‘kiwi’ on her new album ‘Adolescence’ will help fund action aid. The second story promotes a post on action aids own Instagram helping her fans find out more information. This was a successful story as it informed Maeve’s fans whilst also showing her fans her morals and beliefs.

Website

A marketing strategy we used for our artist was creating a website. This is a useful tool for her fans as it allows them to access all of Maeve’s information in an easy and quick way. By adding a link to the website in the bio of Maeve’s Instagram it makes the website visible to fans when they first click on her page.

The website includes: A home page featuring images of Maeve and promotions for her such as her tour and a image promoting her album which is ‘out now’. An about page which informs fans about the artist including the mission statement for her helping old and news fans have a clear understanding of what Maeve and her music is like. The Adolescence page features the front cover of the album and all the tracks which are on it. The killing boys page features an image from the music video ‘killing boys’ with a YouTube link to the video. The tour page features the tour poster for her 2022 Europe tour with all locations and dates included. Finally the shop page shows all of Maeve’s merchandise with prices and images.

Evaluation

In conclusion I am very happy with how the final result of the SMP turned out. The page uses all aspects of the Blumer and Katz theory providing entertainment, information, social interaction and a personal identity for fans. A variety of post on the page such as her at home playing the guitar and behind the scenes photos for photoshoots helps show the use of Dyer’s extraordinary and ordinary star image theory. The bio of the page contains all important information fans would needs to know such as release dates and links to important sites. The main aim of our SMP was to release the music video and album in the most conventional and successful way for fans; the music video and album isn’t released instantly and abruptly instead teasers and behind the scenes pictures are posted before the release, helping build up engagement and excitement for fans. The final successful outcome of the social media page is that in her mission statement describes her as playful and youthful which can be seen through the whole of the SMP.
