Hello Media Studies.

So far, the technical and creative skills that I have acquired are-

  • Experience in filming using camera for a project me and my friends made for YouTube.
  • Experience in editing from the same project and for some of my recordings from my live streams.
  • Experience in using computer programs to record.
  • Experience in acting on stage and camera, I was in a theatre group and and currently doing Theatre Studies and acted in the YouTube project mentioned before.

 

I hope to develop these skills more over the next two years and to learn new ones like the ability to understand what makes things like music and the music industry appealing. I am hoping to become more organised and to be able to write down my research more. Some of the transferable  skills that I have are-

  • The ability to listen and evaluate peoples ideas, as I am an officer at the 2nd Boy’s Brigade company on the island I am normally leading a squad of at least four people so I feel confident in my leadership skills.

I also did some research into design development for my DT GCSE and I am aware if the different things someone should think about when creating an item for customer consumption.

My organisation has been getting better especially since joining the Grammar Sixth Form, I regularly check to see what work I have done and what work I need to do/improve.

 

 

I am a Media Prosumer

These are the different types of Media I consume. Since it is such a varied list, I can see that every different media source in there has multiple purposes that can be provided. For example, YouTube has multiple reasons why consumers use it as it provides entertainment, information and gives access to the consumers interests.

This means that I can use the information that I gather from these media types to give me an opportunity to  create a diverse music magazine that would offer multiple resources for the consumer. These sources also give me the chance to add parts for information and entertainment. Since they are also all a part of my identity I feel like I can create a magazine that I am passionate about and I can share confidently.

In terms as to why consumers use media, there are four different reasons.

  • Entertainment
  • Personal Identity
  • Social Interaction
  • Education & Information.

Each type of media (e.g Magazines, Videos) provides one or more of these to attract interest to there product. Most companies try to make there products as versatile with those categories to crate a bigger audience of consumers.
