My Tour Poster

This is my mood board for my punk rock genre tour poster. When I was putting this together I noticed several similarities, for example the is a lot of bright colours being used with sharp, unsettling images and fonts. These images seem to represent the band members rebelling society and the stereotypes that society puts in place, the poster that says “sample text” in the speech bubble portrays this convention as normally you would expect something valuable to be said instead. There is also a use of multiple, different fonts used to show the chaos that the genre of punk rock represents. These different aspects shown by these posters will help me design my own through the use of AIDA (Attraction, Interest, Desire and Action) as this will help me drive my poster to fit the brief and what conventions the audience would enjoy.

The Camera Talks

These are the photos I chose to represent the several camera angles that i have been taught about and will develop my skills with. Unfortunately I missed the lesson in which we took our own photos as I was self-isolating and I had to choose these pictures rather than taking my own. These pictures are interesting because they show the different distances, angles and framing you can experiment with  and how you can compose a narrative to show images and ideas.

This will help me with my tour poster and my music magazine as it will tech me the skills to be able to create shots that I want or that fit with the connotation I’m trying to create.

My image that uses mise-en-scene to communicate meaning.

Made with Padlet

This is a mood board i made to  collect ideas and pictures of the iconography associated with Punk rock. This is a perfect example of mise-en-scene because it shows what you would link to a punk rock band e.g the colourful hair and messy looking clothes and album designs.

This helped my group to find out what is typical of a punk band, we used this knowledge to find the right clothing and poses for our model so our photos would look as authentic as possible.

Made with Padlet
After we made the padlet I dressed up as a punk rock artist and the rest of the class put what they thought about me on sticky notes and stuck them on me. This perfectly shows mise en scene as people put words like “rebel” and “cool” on me which shows that just looking at the glasses and the jacket can give off ideas to those who don’t know what you’re trying to represent.
This was my favourite out of all the photos I took, this is because the costume represents the punk aspect of the  photo, so does the pose and the props. This shows an all-round example of the punk style of music which was what I was going for. The body language, facial expression and the style show the genre of punk.
I will be able to use my knowledge of how mise-en-scene affects how people interpret images to help me design my magazine to a standard that when people look at it, the mise-en-scene portrays what I want it to.

Print Media that Communicates Meaning- A Tour Poster

This is my analysis of a music poster. From analysing this music poster I have discovered that everything is put onto a piece of print media to represent something. The green butterfly is a different colour to the main print, this distracts the consumers eyes towards it which is important because it gives off the very earthy, folksy theme of the music.

I now know how to use lighting, colouration and text to make an appealing print that easily conveys everything I want to. Now I can confidently use these connotations to signify the different things I want with my music magazine and tour poster.
