Our Mission Statement – The Package Brand

We have to make sure our Digipak is the most fitting to our audience in order for them to engage with the artist and their star image as well as the media they are producing, in order to reach our target audience we have created a mission statement to present the values and beliefs to that specific audience. In order to get the most accurate mission statement for the artist we had to remind ourselves of our target audience and their Demographics as well as their Psychographics, ultimately making the mission statement as accurate to the target audiences beliefs and values will mean that they are more likely to consume the media the artist will produce as well as engage in the media, ultimately creating profit.

Design Skills 1

Throughout the development of my music video I utilised premier pro and through this process I learnt how to use several features, one of the many features used was the affects feature this is going to be used throughout our narrative, this is a significant feature in the process of my music video as it adds more interesting transitions as well as adding affects to the shots to make the music video fit together.

Ultimately the most significant tool that I used in premier pro is the razor tool, this tool is an efficient way to cut footage, you can cut at any specific point in footage cutting it into many different chunks, this is useful as small cuts of footage can be moved throughout the video and contrast other shots, this has been used in our draft and will be used to jump cut from our narrative.

Narrative Development

This document is one of the first steps of developing our narrative, this document helped plan out how are narrative will pan out. The narrative in Music videos develop throughout and follow a pattern of a beginning a middle and an end, usually an issue that arises and is solved. In technical terms this is called the Equilibrium, Disruption, Resolution and then finally the new Equilibrium. Most music videos follow this no matter what type of video whether amplified, disjunctive or illustrative. In our music video we have narrative but it is not as clear as a pattern of beginning middle and end, our narrative is a young boys toys slowly turning into more adult themed objects, so still a narrative of change but not as much of a pattern.

Prelim Task Mood Montage

In this task we were given the brief that we were either given or had the chance to chose a proverb/word pair or a combination of the two as your source of inspiration to create a montage lasting no more than 40 – 60 seconds – that will convey the ideas, issues, themes, moods, emotions that are suggested within the brief.

Using your allocated Proverb/Word Pairs, you will create a storyboard.  However, you decide to do this, you will have at least 20 shots for 40 seconds of film.  Include:

  • an image – stick people will do
  • type of shot – LS, CU, Tilt, Pan etc
  • description of facial expressions/action/object

The prompt for my montage was “Beauty in the eye of the beholder” above is the moodboard that we curated to fulfill the brief, within this moodboard we expressed certain things that create beauty, these included shots of clothes, flowers, sunny skies as well as a Buddha which gives a cultural reference into the montage.

Overall, I think my montage had an impact whilst following the prompt that I was given
