Brand Moodboard and Star Image

In order to get inspiration for my magazine I made a mood board on pinterest consisting of different aspects for a jazz magazine. I added jazz typefaces, album covers, past jazz magazine covers and spread pages and some old school jazz photography. I took some jazz album covers and added them to adobe colour wheel to help me know the colour schemes of music magazines for the genre. Doing this has helped me get a good idea of what conventions I will need in my magazine in order to attract the jazz audience.

To help with my magazine front cover I researched a famous artist from my genre, I chose Amy Winehouse. Artists have to appear ordinary and extraordinary in order for them to be likeable. With my star image I used family photos and charity work to show that the star is similar to us and that she had the same upbringing as us. I then used photos of the star dressed in expensive clothes, winning awards and a magazine cover to show that they are very extraordinary and do multiple things that the general public can’t do. The repertoire of elements is used to show the different lifestyles and aspects of the star that shows their ordinary and extraordinary side.

This is how I want my star to appear to the audience reading my magazine. I would like them to appear chic, classy, polite and like a lady. I would like them to be wearing classic makeup; red lip, eyeliner. What I am hoping to achieve is to make a front cover for my magazine that represents all the elements in my star image and brings attention to it and attracts the right audience.
