Social Media Page Draft 1

Below is our first draft for our social media page for our artist Maeve. Click on images to access full social media page.

The username for our artists social media page is ‘maeveofficial’. This is beneficial for the artist as it is a clear and understandable username; by incorporating the artists name first and then the word official it is easy for the audience to identify this is Maeve’s only and official instagram account. The bio is short and simple; the artists name is stated so again, it is easy for the audience to identify her instagram page. In the bio the only text is ‘Adolescence out 28/12’ this gives the audience only one thing to focus on; her new album and also helps build up excitement and talk about the album and artist.

The profile picture helps connote Maeve’s persona and what she is known for; being playful, quirky and modern. The image is upside down with bright colours making the image interesting which can help attract a further audience to the page. The image only features the artist Maeve and nothing else so again, is helping keep it simple and appealing for the audience.

So far, the social media page only has four posts which are in a good conventional order. The first post including one professional image of Maeve with a clear introduction in the caption helping fans/audiences navigate and understand her page. The next three posts focus on her fans and music, with a post thanking her fans for the support on her music, a teaser for her upcoming music video ‘killing boys’ to help build excitement, and finally a behind the scenes post to help share more aspects of her upcoming music with fans.

Self Assessment

By completing a self assesment for the first draft of the SMP it has proven helpful as I can compare what has been done to make the SMP conventional and helps me identify what I can do in future drafts to make the SMP contain technical conventions that will help attract and reach the correct target audience.

Target For Next Draft:

  • Post more images showing the artists ‘ordinary’ side in order for audiences to be able to relate to her.
  • Use synergy for example get the artist to promote/post brands that would appeal to the audience.
  • Post a Q&A post/highlight so that the artists fans can ask questions and have a personal connection with the star; this will also help show a mix of her ordinary and extraordinary side.
  • Use cross media convergence for example link the artist to other sources of media such as interviews and youtube videos.
  • To help not over posting create highlights to keep audience updated with album and music video releases and behind the scenes.
