Second Shoot Contact Sheets

These are the contact sheets I made for the shoot I did at Castle Cornet. This was a good location because it give off quite a grungy vibe which is what I wanted because for my double page spread  because I wanted to focus on the rocker style which is often seen throughout EDM artists styles. I decided to use a male and female for my shoot and I tried to make it seam as in they were a relationship because I want my article to be about that. I dressed Joe in baggy blue jeans, a white shirt and a dark jacket. The reason that I dressed Joe in such a plain outfit is because I wanted the reader to focus on Izzy because the magazine is specifically targeted to women and feminism. I also dressed Izzy in blue baggy jeans which had large rips in them, a black flowery bralette, a blue flannel shirt and an other sized leather jacket with a few bangles on her wrist. I really liked Izzy’s outfit because she looked quite rocky and grungy and I feel as though this really fits the grungy EDM genre.

I used my knowledge of camera skills to make my photos as good as possible. When taking my photographs I considered many things. I thought about and tried to work on lighting. As you can see in my contact sheets I struggled with this at first but I definitely improved throughout the shoot. I also considered camera angles and I decided to take my pictures in auto focus so that it would be slightly easier for me to get high quality photos. I think to improve my photos I could have focused even more so on camera angles and I think I could have asked my models to use more facial expressions because their faces are quite similar all round and it would have been nice to get some more variety.

My Favourite Photos

These are my favourite photos I took in my shoot. The reasons why I like these photos is because I like the lighting and facial expressions. They have very serious faces but there still seams to be a connection between the two of them.  I like the use of different camera angles including close up and wide shot because it creates different feelings and emotions. I also think that these photos give of a good EDM theme because they are wearing quite generic EDM clothing. For example when I first started to work on the EDM genre I thought that the DJ’s wore quite bright sparkly colours but when I actually researched them I found that most of them wear quite plain and dark colours. Therefore I think my use of mise en scene in my favourite photos is good.
