Storyboard:

In order to understand how to use our digital equipment to be able to create films, we were tasked with shooting a narrative sequence. To do this we had to create a storyboard that included a variety of shots that we would throughout our sequence. This included shots such as, close ups, long shots and eye-line matches to help show someone trying to shoot a basketball. Each post-it note represented a different scene within the sequence, helping us plan each shot we would need to film allowing production to be efficient and make sure that no time was wasted.

Evaluation:

What We Did Well –

  • We were able to use a variety of shots and shot distances to help portray our narrative sequence.
  • During post production we made sure that the cuts between our shots were smooth.
  • We stuck to our initial idea of our sequence and were able to adapt when our location wasn’t available for us to shoot in.

What We Could Have Done Better –

  • We could have found more suitable soundtracks to fit the narrative of our video.
  • We could have re-shot some clips as they were out of focus.
  • Included more variety in our montage shot and we possibly could have made it longer.

Now that we have filmed our own narrative sequence, I understand the amount of planning and preparation needed for my music video to be successful. I have gained the understanding of how to use premier pro in order to create a sequence which will be extremely helpful when I begin to produce and edit a music video. During this task I feel that I have gathered the skills that are necessary in creating a successful music video.
