Design Skills 2

During the process of making our second draft of our music video, we have learnt a wide variety of new effects and skills that can help us in our video to help convey the narrative alongside portraying the electropop genre.

Firstly a tool that myself and my group have found to help make our music video more successful was the adjustment layer tool. This tool has helped us massively with time management, as it allows us to put the same effects onto all of our clips, it means we do not have to put each effect on an individual clip. Typically we have used were the Lumetri Colours filter as we decided to use the same filter on a particular section of shots in order to have consistency.

Another tool that myself and my group have found very effective in conveying our narrative was the strobe effect tool, this allows us to strobe in between different clips. An example of where we have used this particular effect is at the start of our music video, to set the scene for the Creepy and Grundy narrative. One of our main goals was for our target audience to feel on edge and slightly uncomfortable, and with this effect I felt we were able to achieve this outcome.

The mask tool was a tool showed to us by the Specsavers creative team. It is a tool that allowed us to isolate a particular part of the shot so that we could move that aspect or change it’s opacity or colour. It was this tool that allowed us to make the shot seen below. The mask effect really helps the shot fit in with our eerie and creepy narrative as it portrays our character being trapped within her mind.

Finally another tool that was helpful was the mask tool, which was kindly shown to us by the Specsavers Creative Team. The mask tool allows us to segregate a specific part of the shot selected in order for us to be able to move it or change the color or its opacity. The mask tool has really helped us to convey our narrative even more to our target audience, whilst portraying the creepy and haunting narrative. The tool has helped us to make the shot shown below:
