Evaluation Question 2 – Relationship Across My Media Products

Evaluation Question 2: “How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?”

We were tasked with answering a series of questions in relation to our music video and ancillary texts. We created and published a video which answered all of the set questions. Below are the set questions:

Analysis and Notes:

In summary, my group and I feel that there is a strong synergy between the digipak/advert and the music video. The main factors to consider how well my products merge with each other would be the colours included in the video and the nature of the star’s meta-narrative. An important note to add would be that the electronic genre lacks specific narrative-related conventions. For instance, most electronic music videos have more general narrative themes such as determination, enjoyment and happiness. However, genres such as Rock have more specific conventions such as rebellion and defiance. The star image of a ‘Rock Star’ can be fairly generic and is very recognisable. In contrast, the star image of an electronic artist could potentially encompass a vast variety of features. Most electronic artists are mainly anonymous, thus the attention lies solely on their music. In summary, I feel the relationship across my main product and ancillary texts is very effective.
