The Post-Production Stage

The post-production stage was an extremely crucial factor to the progress and development of our music video. Here, we were able to experiment with a range of different effects that allowed us to make a much more conventional video to our preferred genre. Furthermore, these particular tools enabled us to establish a more professional, well- composed video that would most definitely appeal to our target audience. Some of the tools in which we used were factors like:

Exponential Fade:

Here, we used the tool ‘exponential fade’ when we inserted the foley sound of the sea at the very end of our music video. This allowed us to make the sound more suited to the video and therefore appear appropriate to the scene.

Cross Dissolve:

The cross dissolve allowed us to fade clips into each other, creating an artistic, conventional aesthetic to the work we created. Moreover, this transition enabled us to make smoother changes between shots.

Speed/ Duration:

This was an especially important tool in this making of our product. It enabled us to really slow down key features in our video to emphasis particular shots. Furthermore, the use of ‘reverse speed’ in this feature allowed us to achieve the exact look we wanted for our narrative representation of the ink in the water.

Motion:

Moreover, this function allowed us to correct a few of our performance shots. With the use of this tool, we were able to dispose of any unusual leading space and replace it with a slow, conventional pan instead.

Brightness and Contrast:

This was an essential feature in every single shot we used throughout our music video. By slightly adjusting the brightness and contrast of our shots, we were able to create footage which appeared to be of a high standard visually. This allowed emphasis on the dark, low-key lighting in the studio and then on the brightness and reflections of the sea in our narrative shots.

With this use of these tools, features and functions we were able to dramatically improve our video; creating a much more conventional product overall. Here, we were able to focus on the minor details improving our video further and therefore creating a video that would appear a lot more visually interesting.
